Privacy Policy
This privacy statement (“Policy”) explains the data we gather about you when you visit www.sharmahostels.com and use the website’s services (“Services”), as well as how we use and share that data.
A. The Collection of Your Data
1. Collection of Personal Information
When used alone or in conjunction with other information, “personal information” is defined as information that could be used to quickly identify or contact you, such as your name, address, email address, phone number, etc.
Depending on how you interact with our website, we may gather different types of personal information from you. Your name, gender, age, account pan password, postal address, phone number, email address, contact preferences, ID proof (PAN, Passport, Aadhar, Voter ID, etc.), bank account/credit card/debit card details, proof of employment, proof of educational background, and other details that would help us confirm your identity are all examples of personal information that will be collected.
Additionally, we may gather any requests or feedback you make, any personal information you include in your profile, and any remarks or debates you make in any blogs, chat rooms, or other message boards on the Platform of the Website. The right to record communications and correspondence between Platform users is reserved by Sharma hostels. All chat/messaging logs and phone recordings may be utilized, among other things, to monitor and stop abuse, protect users’ rights, settle disputes, etc.
In our absolute and sole discretion, we may also request and gather other information from third parties, such as credit report data from a credit agency or information to confirm any identification information you provide during registration.
You promise to always provide accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date personal information. Additionally, we’ll try our best to provide you the chance to ask us to update any inaccurate personal information you’ve given us or even to have it deleted if you want to—subject to any applicable legal restrictions. Additionally, we reserve the right to refuse to process requests that we determine to violate this Policy, the Platform Terms, and Conditions, or any applicable laws, necessitate an exorbitant amount of technical effort, compromise the privacy of others, or are otherwise wildly impractical.
2. Personal Information Recurring from Social Networking Sites
You might occasionally be able to access our Platform using one of your other social networking accounts. If you choose to do so, you will be prompted to enter your email address and password for your social networking accounts. We will request your consent to access and gather your basic information (this includes your name, profile picture, gender, networks, user IDs, list of friends, date of birth, email address, and any other information you have set to public on your account). If you give us access to this information, even if you later decide not to make it public, we will continue to have this information. We combine the data we get from these social networking sites with other data we have about you or have been given about you when we keep it.
These social networking platforms have control over the data they gather from you. Please refer to the privacy policies of the relevant social networking sites for details on how they may use and disclose your information, including any information you make public. Any third-party website’s use or disclosure of the personal data it gathers about you is beyond our control.
3. Collection of Automatic Information, Use of Cookies, and Other Tracking Devices
Cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies are used by us and our third-party service providers, such as ad networks, to gather data about how you use our platform and services. This data may include the type of browser you are using, your ISP or operating system, your domain name, your access time, the previous website you visited, how many pages you have viewed, your IP address, and the kind of device you are using. We keep track of how frequently you use our Services and visit our Platform. In addition to the various uses listed in this policy, we use this information for Website analytics, to help us choose relevant advertising, to assess the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns, and for other lawful purposes. Your device ID may be obtained by us and transmitted to Sharma hostels servers to prevent fraud.
Cookies
By utilizing Cookies, we and our third-party service providers can gather data about you. A cookie is a little file that contains details about a user and is kept on their computer’s hard drive. The cookie provides information about your use of a certain website or aids in our analysis of online traffic. Web applications can react to you as an individual by customizing their operations to match your needs, likes, and dislikes thanks to cookies, which collect and retain information about your preferences. To recognize your browser when you visit the Platform, we may transfer one or more Cookies (a small text file made up of a string of alphanumeric characters) to your computer.
Some of these Cookies can be linked to businesses or websites operated by third parties. Both this Policy and the applicable third-party company or website’s privacy policy control how such Cookies may be used. For instance, when you click on adverts, Google sets cookies on your computer to track how well the ads are doing. We and Google will be able to determine that you saw the Google-delivered advertisement if you visit the Platform while having such Cookies installed on your computer. These Policies as well as Google’s Privacy Policy set forth the conditions for using these Cookies.
Disabling Cookies
You have the option to accept or reject cookies. The majority of web browsers allow cookies by default, but you can typically change your browser’s settings to reject cookies if you’d prefer. You might not be able to use the Platform to its full potential if you disable cookies since the Platform might stop working properly.
Pixel tags, clear GIFs, and other technologies. Similar to cookies in function, clear GIFs are tiny visuals with a distinctive identifier. Unlike cookies, which are saved on the hard drive of your computer, clear GIFs are subtly included in web pages. Clear GIFs may be used in association with our Platform to track visitor activity, assist in content management, and gather usage data, among other things. To track email response rates, and determine when our emails are viewed and whether they are forwarded, we and our third-party service providers employ clear GIFs in HTML emails to our clients.
You understand that not all organizations and/or nations to which we may transfer your personal information may have data privacy regulations that are as strict as Indian law or Sharma Living’s own rules. You agree that it is sufficient that we impose contractual duties on the transferee, obliging the transferee to abide by the terms of this Privacy Policy, when we transmit your personal information to any other business within or outside of India.
